Digital has taken the underwater photography world by storm. Get in on the action with the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty course. You can quickly and easily capture the underwater world with your camera and on your computer.

During the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty course, Lynn and Dawie will learn you how to use the PADI SEA (Shoot, Examine and Adjust) method, which takes full advantage of digital technology. The result is good underwater photos faster than you may imagine.

    Course Outline

  • First we look at choosing and using modern digital cameras and underwater housings once you are happy with the use of your camera and housing we will move to taking the photos.
  • First we spend some time in the pool where the conditions is more controlled and you don't need to worry about the currents.
  • Once we are happy with photos of the artificial reefs of our swimming pool we will move on to the open water.
  • During the course you will learn about using the PADI SEA method for getting great shots quickly, and the three primary principles for getting good photos underwater
  • Prerequisites

  • Must be a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water (or have a qualifying certification from another training organization)
  • However, you can take the course as a snorkeler and receive a nondiving certification.
  • This is one of PADI's most adaptable specialty courses, and can even be started during the last dive of your PADI Open Water Diver course.
  • What's needed?

    • Photography Crew pack which includes the Manual, DVD and white balance slate.
    • An Under Water Camera.
    • Soft gear (can be rented at qualifying destonation).

Questions & Answers

Q: Can I do the course if I don't have an under water camera?
A:
Yes you can by renting a camera but the main focus of the course is working with your camera and having a rented camera might mean you don't get the full benefit from the course.

Q: How much do I need to know about photography and my camera to do the course?
A:
IF you can switch your camera on you know enough, the course is designed to teach you about photography in general, your camera and the right way to use it.

Q: Can I use a film camera to do the course?
A:
there is a under water photography course which focuses on the use of film cameras.

Q: I have a digital camera all ready do I need to buy a new camera?
A:
No there is a lot of underwater housings on the market. You just need to look for the right housing for you camera.
Some cameras just don't have housings and you will have to buy a new camera and housing. Take a look at the online store for inspiration and advice
